A state of confusion

Hillary's POV

My legs carried me as far as I could go. What the hell was happening. Without even looking, I stormed off from the same entry I used bumping into Rachel.

“ Hey, how did the interview go?”

“I'm sorry.” I said in a ragged voice and ran off.

“Wait.”

She tried to stop me but I was very fast. I was finally out of the building. I stopped for air and my chest was pounding. I continued walking and leaned against a tree. Tears poured from my eyes.

My phone buzzed and I checked the caller ID. It was Bridget.

“ Hey Bridget. I'm such an idiot. I….”

“ Hillary, you need to come home right now. Your apartment is being destroyed right now.”

Bridget warned.

“What?!”

I boarded a cab straight to the street and when I arrived there, Everywhere was haphazard. There was the demolition crew and a demolition Crane too. The crew had already started packing people's stuff and throwing them outside.

I sighed and ran into the apartment. Now there was nowhere to go. I was in our room and I couldn't find my father home.

"FINAL WARNING, ALL RESIDENTS, PLEASE REMOVE ANY REMAINING BELONGINGS FROM THE PREMISES IMMEDIATELY. ANY ITEMS LEFT BEHIND WILL BE DESTROYED."

The loudspeaker boomed as they announced.

I looked through the window and Some people scrambled to grab their remaining belongings, while others stood frozen, unsure of what to do.

“Oh God. What should I do?” I wiped my tears. Why now? I ran downstairs back and out of the apartment. Everywhere was dusty.

“Hey.” I felt someone grabbed my hands

I turned to look in panic and to my surprise, it was Travis.

“ Oh.” I got started.

“Tessa or Hillary?” He gritted his teeth and I knew this wasn't the time for this.

“ Is Hillary okay? And yes. This is where I stay. I lied. What are you doing here?” I said in shame and he chuckled.

“I should be asking you that? Why are you here? Oh not only do you have a villa. You even stay in this charity apartment.” He sneered.

“Is this part of your company too?” I calculated fast.

“Sure.” He deadpanned and I looked at him in anger.

I pulled my hands out of his grip as I watched people run and fell. The atmosphere was very harsh.

“Hillary.!”

I turned to the voice. It was a neighbor, an elder.

“ Your Father has been stabbed just now in the hallways.”

“What?” I panicked and ran to follow him despite the chaos. Pipes burst. Waters leaking everywhere.

“ Dad.!” I screamed when I noticed he was holding his belly as he leaned by the wall breathing.

“Oh my gosh.” Tears ran from my eyes. What should I do? Oh gosh. What happened Dad?”

He didn't answer me but instead shoved past me and ran off. I followed him out when I noticed he was running out of the apartment outside.

The other side of the building, everyone had parked their properties and he kept on running towards that side.

“Dad, No.”

But instead someone grabbed me. It was Bridget.

“Where are you going? Do you want to get killed.” She pushed me off to a safe side.

“It's my Father. He's inside.”

I saw the demolition crane looming over the apartment complex.

"No!" I shouted, stumbling towards the building. But it was too late. The wrecking ball swung down, crashing into the walls.

“Dad is inside the empty building.”

I panicked. What if he dies?

I tried to run towards the mess when Travis stopped me.

“My father is inside. This is all your fault.”

He sighed, ordering the crew to stop and the demolition crane stopped for a while. He sent his men inside to look for any signs of victims inside.

“Don't you dare blame me. You poverty stricken animals were warned to leave months ago.!”

His words pierced deep. I was insulted. Soon his men came out carrying my Father.

“ He's the only one left. We've looked through it before. It seemed he just went in and some few objects crashed on him.

“ Call 911 immediately.” He ordered and I knelt close to him. The stab wasn't so deep. While Bridget consoled me.

Finally the ambulance came and my Father was rolled in. It seemed Travis had ordered the demolition crew to stop for now. I entered the ambulance with him while Bridget was left behind. At least she even had a nice house where she lived.

Neither Travis or I spoke until we got to the hospital where he was attended to. I was waiting outside the room panicking when Travis came outside.

“The Doctors said your father is going to be fine.”

“I want to see him.”

“No you can't yet.” He rubbed his temples. “ Can we talk? Please.”

I rolled my eyes, “ About what?”

“ How the hell you pulled up to the club as a rich girl and also to my office. Why exactly did you do that”

He grabbed my arms. “ Plus, you're even a maid for my girlfriend?”

We stare at each other for a while..

“ What's going on here?”

Madam Victoria walked in. Travis released my hands and she went to kiss him. “ I followed you here babe. What's going on?”

“ Excuse me.”

Travis escorted himself walking away and she followed suit.

I sat helplessly on the floor. Tears poured from my eyes. I decided to lay on the chair for some while and I slept off.

I was awakened by the Doctors who allowed me to enter. My father was sitting on the bed. His wounds were already cleaned.

I turned to the doctors, “Is the Bill going to cost a lot.?” I asked wearily.

“ The bills and drugs have been paid for already by the Man you came in with.” He informed me.

“Oh…I see.”

“Your father can be discharged already.” She said,

“Hillary.”

I turned to see someone outside the room and walked there. It was Madame Victoria.

“ Get out.” She blatantly speaks.

“Huh?”

“ Leave Manhattan and never return.”

“Why ma'am?”

“ Why were you with my boyfriend earlier? First at the office and at your apartment building and here. What's your deal, scullery girl. You wash for me and now you also want to work for my boyfriend?

“ It's not like that.”

“ I just eradicate anything that comes in between me and Travis okay? I hate how he looked at you like you two have known each other before.” She spat.

I was surprised to see My Father out of his room. He dragged my hands, “ let's go Hillary.”

“ What's going on? Dad, you're recuperating.”

“We're taking a cab back to our street.” He pushed me into a car as soon as he stopped one.

The car stopped after a drive and we both came out. I saw some men waiting and walked to our direction and my Father pushed me violently to their feet and I fell on the floor.

“ This is my daughter. Now where's my money?”
