Runaway princess

Travis POV

I stood in the middle of my staff room, my voice booming as I addressed the entire staff.

"Listen up, everyone!"

I barked, my eyes scanning the room.

"I am extremely disappointed in the lack of productivity I'm seeing around here. Deadlines are being missed, clients are being neglected, and I'm still waiting for those reports from last week."

I glared at Rachel, my assistant, who looked like she was about to shrink into her chair.

"And another thing, what's with the constant lagging around here? I expect to see results, not excuses. You're all being paid top dollar to perform, so perform!"

"I'm sorry, sir."

Rachel apologized.

"Maybe I need new assistants."

"We're sorry."

"You're all lucky to be working for one of the top event planning companies in the city. I expect to see some serious changes around here, starting now."

I paused, surveying the room once more.

"Rachel, get me a list of all outstanding tasks and deadlines. And everyone else, get back to work! We've got events to plan and clients to impress."

With that, I turned on my heel and strode back into my office. I walked back into my office, while Rachel followed me, slamming the door behind me.

"Rachel, I know someone applied for a job here recently. I want to see the list of applicants and their resumes."

Rachel nodded and scurried over to the filing cabinet. She pulled out a thick folder and handed it to me.

I flipped through the pages, scanning the names and qualifications until I reached the last one. The resume was perfect, even though there was no work experience.

"I think this one has potential," I said, tapping the resume.

Rachel looked at it. "Hillary Highman, sir?"

I nodded. "Yes, that's the one. Get her in here for an interview by tomorrow. I want to meet her."

"Okay, sir." She nodded and left the room.

I took a deep breath, and immediately Victoria burst in.

"Hey, babe."

She giggled in a squeaky voice. Oh gosh. I'm definitely not in the mood for anything like this.

"How's work going?"

She asked, walking to my desk and sitting on my lap.

I smiled a little, "Good."

"So, um, you see, there's this expensive bag I've been wanting to buy, and it's worth a million dollars." She pouted. "Please."

I've known Victoria for some years. We were friends, but somehow she forced her way to make us date by force.

"How about the bag I just got you last month?"

"I want another one." She shrugged, acting like a baby.

I rubbed my temples, feeling a headache coming on. I was exhausted, and Victoria's constant demands were wearing me down.

"Fine, let's go get it."

"Yay!"

We walked out of the building, and I decided to go home after getting her what she wanted. To me, it seemed all she wanted was my money.

A few hours later, after we were done, I went back to the office when Marcus, my personal bodyguard, came in. He turned to face me, a look of urgency etched on his face.

"Sir, thank God you're here. We have a problem," Marcus said, his voice low and serious.

"What kind of problem?"

Marcus hesitated before speaking.

"It's about the Johnson deal. I just got word that they're backing out."

"What? That's impossible. We had a signed agreement."

"I know, but apparently, they want to receive a better offer from another company if we don't sell the land already."

I clenched my fists. "We can't lose their proposal, Marcus."

"There's really a lot of money we can make from this."

"Exactly." I scoffed angrily. "And those residents that were asked to vacate? Have they left yet?"

"Well, no sir. The residents have been warned multiple times to vacate the premises, but they've refused to leave."

I raised an eyebrow. "Refused to leave?" I banged the table with my fist. "Those shitheads don't even pay rent."

I frowned, my mind made up.

"Well, if they won't leave willingly, we'll have to use force."

"Yes, sir, they've been living rent-free at the apartment, and even with the notice, no move."

"Those bastards," I breathed.

"Well, I made that place free before, but now I have to destroy it because of the amount the Richardsons are willing to give. We can't lose that offer."

"I've already spoken to the authorities, sir. They're willing to provide assistance in clearing out the area."

"Good. Let's get it done and over with. We have a deadline to meet, and I won't let anything stand in our way."

Marcus nodded in agreement. "I've already set up a meeting with the team for tomorrow with the Richardsons."

"Very good, Marcus."

I responded, impressed, and dismissed him. My mind wandered to the lady I met online, Tessa Fowler. The lady I met online on the matchup. Of course, I was too stressed, and when I am, I just go to any club to cool off my stress with sex. But this one was different; I felt like I had fallen in love with her already, even though we met online and were about to meet at the club.

I had already gotten home and prepared for the meetup with Tessa. I was dressed when Victoria called me.

"Hello? Where are you, babe? Can I come over?" Her voice was sultry.

"Uh, I'm afraid I'm not at home. I'm actually busy with work," I lied.

The driver was already waiting for me, but I decided to take my own driver for personal reasons.

"But…."

"I'll call you back, okay? Bye. Love you."

"I love you too."

I ended the call and finally we got there. I smirked. I've been to this club a whole lot of times. Matchups for the rich only. Of course, I didn't need to be tested for any medical issues.

"Clear, please," I spoke with pride.

"Welcome, sir."

The staff fearfully let me in.

I was inside when I noticed the beautiful Tessa walk in. Sweet. We talked for some time and went into a private room.

I was almost on the verge of starting foreplay when she received a call.

"I'm so sorry, I think I have to go."

"What?"

She stormed off.
