Chapter 8: Do Not Disturb For Any Reason
Alpha King Caspian's POV:
If I had to say to anyone that asked me, I had a whole lot going through my mind as I previously walked down the corridor back at the Blue Moon Pack. Now, we were driving swiftly toward the Imperial Clinic. On the one hand, I was highly pissed off about the condition my newly found Mate found herself in. I wanted to ensure that those responsible would certainly pay for their overuse of punishment.
The fact that they deemed that much force necessary, according to the crime she committed by disrespecting the other members of the house?! That made absolutely no sense to me to receive that much force. As the one pack member described to me before I released my Mate from her bound position, I clearly understood the situation, and it was an overuse of force for such a minor crime. On the other hand, I did not want to lose her because I hadn't known about her situation until today.
I knew I had previously taught my packs to punish those who were guilty. I ensured those teachings to make sure the punishments fit the crime. From what I understood about this entire situation today, her punishment certainly did NOT fit the crime. I didn't see how she could have disrespected the other members of the house to such a degree as to hang by her wrists and be whipped to near Death.
From the mere sight of her when I first laid my eyes on her, it seemed as if she wasn't even able to stand up from the condition in which I found her, let alone talk back to anyone. How could she disrespect anyone? I was merely baffled the more I thought about all of this. As I continued going over these various thoughts in my mind, the last question that ran through my mind stuck around a bit more.
What could have happened if I had not come till later in the day? Would her scent have been around by that point? In order to find her in that current state? No, it would have been worse. Much worse! Would she still be alive at that point?! I increasingly feared for her well-being and hoped she would be alright once we finally arrived at our destination.
With each passing moment, I wondered if we would make it on time. She whimpered periodically, even though she was unconscious when we would hit a few bumps along the way. I made sure to hold her lightly, cradling her across my lap as we were just about to get to our destination. The Imperial Clinic was only about a 20-minute leisure drive from the Blue Moon Pack, and then only another 10 minutes from my very own castle. However, knowing my haste in needing to get there, the driver knew how to shave that 20-minute drive to about 10.
I took that opportunity to reach into my pocket and pull out my phone, making sure to turn on the Do Not Disturb feature. The last thing I wanted was the buzzing to disturb her while she was lying here in my arms, covered by the blanket Maxwell brought for her earlier. After a moment of thought, I pressed the button on the side of the phone, turning the device off completely.
This situation was far more important to focus on than trying to check my phone with each buzz or message alert that rang in. I also was not going to be interrupted by any unwanted phone calls that rang in either. Everyone else was going to have to wait. She came first.
'Do you think she's going to make it?' (Cash asked nervously.)
'She had better.' (I responded in a gruff tone, even to my standards.)
'Maxwell!' (I said via Mind Link in a serious tone.)
'Yes? Your Highness.' (He responded.)
'I need you to do what is necessary to be able to obtain the proper information needed to proceed with this. You know what to do. I want results. I want them Now!' (I commanded, my tone gruff as I nearly shouted via Mind Link.)
'Understood, Your Highness.' (Maxwell responded.)
There was a certain seriousness to the issue I was dealing with here, and my tone reflected the need to address it at the moment. The last thing is wanted was to make an assumption about something when I knew we could obtain the proper proof to confirm what I already knew in the back of my mind. Just then, as I looked out the front window, I noticed that the driver pulled up to the Crisis Center entrance. The passenger door was immediately opened for me.
I swiftly got out of the vehicle and turned toward the entrance. I gently yet hurried my pace as I carried her in my arms. She whimpered a bit as she tried to adjust her position in my arms. Once I was inside, I walked straight past the Aid Station, noticing several of the Aides stood up in shock at seeing me carry someone straight into the clinic myself. Despite that, I walked down the hall, looking for a particular room. That's when I heard a voice from right behind me calling out to me.
"Your Highness!?" I heard the voice, and I didn't want to turn around at that moment. "Are you here for another..." The voice cut off suddenly.
Only then did I turn around to see who it was that spoke from behind me. When I turned around fully, still in my position, I noticed that it was a doctor who had just come out of another room with a clipboard in her hand. She had just closed the door behind her when she saw me walking past. However, when I turned around holding someone in my arms, she stopped speaking all at once. Without another word from her, I started to walk at the same time she raised her arm in the direction that I was originally walking.
She quickly followed me to my own personal suite, which I used when I needed to be seen for battle injuries and such. As we were just about there, she rushed past me to get to the door handle first. That is, even before my Beta had a chance to make it to the door, who was attempting to get it for me as well. My personal suite was located right outside where one of the various Aid Stations was positioned.
After she opened the door for me, I walked inside as she started calling out to the Aides who were now standing at the desk to bring in a few select items when they came in. Inside my suite, I walked up to my bed, gently laying my Mate down. This caused her to whimper and groan in pain with the change of position again. You could tell by the sound in her throat and the look on her face showed she was in serious pain.
During all this, even the whimpers she made were barely audible. It made me wonder why. Someone in that amount of pain would be screaming, not barely muttering a sound. Just then, the doctor came into the room, followed by a few other Aides, who brought in different trays on wheels and other assorted things. I knew the doctor wasn't sure what she was going to find, but she had them bring basic intravenous supplies and assorted bandages, just to name a few. At that moment, I turned to look over at my Beta, who was standing over by the wall to the side.
"Wait outside, I do not want to be disturbed right now for any reason," I said to him directly.
