Baffled

Adrian's POV

I stiffened when I heard her words. She was so loud in her mind. I recalled the moment I tasted her lips, and I was able to hear her thoughts, which baffled me even more. I don't know what was happening, but I liked it. I liked the fact that I could hear her talk in her mind. I then drew in a deep breath and waited for what would happen, but when I heard her thoughts talking about children, the thought made me scared and happy in an unknown way, in a way I can't explain. I can't help feeling like something good was finally about to happen to me after long years of living in pain and misery. I stared at her, and then I smiled. My smile was genuine and filled with hope. Then I told her that I'd want to prepare some food for her; she nodded and had a smile on her face.

Then, when I went out, I was stunned when I noticed a young woman who seemed to be around my age. She has similar features to Garcia, and I immediately recognized her. It was Gabrielle, the young woman who has always been there for me when I needed her the most. She has helped me a lot, and I don't know how to repay her for her kind gestures.

I drew in a deep breath and told her how I needed her help in preparing a bath for her; she only smiled and nodded.

When she was gone, I hurriedly went to the kitchen to prepare something for her, and then I noticed my aunt. She was standing beside the door, she had a very scrutinizing gaze, her eyes searched mine, and her bright blue eyes turned to a deep shade of green.

Her eye color changes according to her emotions, which is a rare ability that no one has. But I'm not ready to face her tantrums. All I wanted was peace of mind, and I wished to calm my nerves. I don't want to think much about this, but I can't help it.

Then I noticed how my aunt walked towards me and made me look at her.

"What is it, Yvonne? Please, I don't have time for another tantrum. I said to her, and then she looked down at what I was doing; she was stunned to see me cooking. I recalled the last time I had cooked for anyone, it was when I was with my mother and father and everything changed when they were both killed on the battlefield, I Became a threat, and out of anger, I recalled the way I had gone to the demon lords in Auroville, I was willing to kill every demon for killing my mother, and that was how I brought more Chaos to the Kingdom because I was irrational, I was desperate to take revenge, I wanted all the demons to pay for what they did to my parents, so I did something I'll always regret for the rest of my life, something that burns my heart whenever I think of it, something that makes my heart irked with both pain and hatred, something I'll never forget.

And which was to go as far as...

"Adrian, are you there? Were you lost in thought?" She asked me. I drew in a deep breath and stared at him.

"It has been a long time since I have seen you this happy. I'm surprised that you have finally found the woman who will make you happy again."

"Not again, Aunt, I just need..."

"Listen, I'm your mother's sister, and she told me to protect you at all costs, so did you know how it hurt me all those years of pain and misery, seeing you and unable to do anything, those years where you hated even yourself and you bullied everyone? Did you know how much it hurt me?" She asked.

My gaze softened, so I looked down without saying a word, then I concentrated on cooking the food. She made me look at her and said to me,.

"As much as I am happy for you, I'm also scared for you because I don't want you to go too deep with this woman. Please don't love her too deeply, because you might end up even more savage than you were with your parents." I know she made a point, so I immediately looked up at her.

"Then what would I do, now that I find myself being so drawn to her as every second passes by, she's... she's just perfect in every way," I voice out. She sighed and let her shoulders fall as she sat on one of the nearby chairs, and she smiled as she explained it to me.

"I was once in your shoes, but mine were different, and I gave in to my feelings, and I regretted it. I hated the fact that I had to give him my entire heart, and to date, I can't forget about him," she ended with a sigh. She was staring at nothing in particular as she kept thinking about everything that had happened. In the family, it made me feel slightly uncomfortable, then she stared at me and made me look into her eyes.

"Please don't make the mistake that I did; I want you to be better than me," she voiced gently. I don't even know the mistake she made, yet she's telling me that I shouldn't do the same.

"I'm still confused because you have yet to tell me the mistake you made." She sighed again, and she said, "The king, who is your father, was destined to have two mates; that's the custom. Every royal blood is destined to have two mates and only one child, so your father had to make the hardest decision because both of his mates were siblings, who were you and your mother. He was forced to make the hardest decision in life, which was to choose between me and her..."

"And he chose her?" I chimed in.
