Chapter 1 - Lilah

I smiled slightly as I gently wiped the makeup from my face, the light veil of concealer covering my soft skin coming off easily on the wipe in my hand, while I thought about Logan and what tomorrow might bring... Tomorrow, he would be seventeen, in just a few hours, he would be outside in the moonlight with his family, transforming for the first time. Those first minutes of his seventeenth birthday, they would want to be outside under the moonlight to encourage the transformation, a huge step in a young werewolf's life, especially someone as special as him. He would finally meet his wolf, the Alpha wolf who would one day take over from his father to lead our pack.

Chapter 2 - Lilah

I jolted slightly in my sleep hearing noise downstairs. Groggy, I rolled my head into the softness of my pillow, feeling so tired. But the persistent noises coming from downstairs, which I assumed were my parents, made me crack open a half-asleep eye just to see the sun peeking around the edges of my bedroom curtains. Sleepily, I patted my hand on my bed to reach my bedside table which was next to my single bed. 'Ouch!' I swore as I banged my wrist on the corner of the wooden unit trying to grab my mobile phone, a now-morning ritual... a good morning babe from Logan that made me smile every morning, before noticing the time - 9:45!!

Chapter 4 - Lilah

I didn't want to be here, but Logan felt the need to explain and I knew I couldn't get out of it without him doing so, so I sat, letting him say what he had to say. I know my Logan... although clearly, he is no longer my Logan, not with a mate out there... but I still knew him so well, and he seemed to be struggling as much as I was with this situation. Of course, the fact that he had found his mate should have helped with that! I just wanted the ground to swallow me whole... I had loved this guy for years... told him all my secrets... grown up with him... shared my first kiss with him... messed around with him... oh... thank goddess!!... thank goddess we never went further assuming we were mates!

I didn't look back, I left the room, passing my uncle and Alpha, walking past Anya who couldn't, or maybe wouldn't meet my gaze, sure she probably felt guilty knowing she was now the mate of my boyfriend with whom, only last night, we thought I was bonded. Everyone not knowing what to say to me knowing I was going to catch my boyfriend with his new mate, it must have made them a bit uncomfortable... Or just everyone not knowing how to handle poor old me, the cast-aside girlfriend of our perfect Alpha, I was boiling inside, part of me wishing someone had stopped me, told me what had happened, maybe tried to warn me... instead, I'm just the cast-aside girlfriend of the Alpha who just found his new mate that soon everyone will forget...

I had been running for a good hour, maybe more, through the woods and beyond, needing to get away, to let out my anger. Hunting a few small prey along the way. I planned to lie under the afternoon sun near the waterfall to calm down, but as I approached, I saw a figure standing at the top of the falls. At first glance, I didn't recognize who it was, just that she seemed to be contemplating jumping and I needed to hurry to help, to stop her. It was only as I got closer that I realized with a heavy heart that it was Lilah, had our situation really driven her to this?
